  11.   1 - Requirements/Specs
  12.  
  13.       This is an IBM-PC/AT/PS2/Compatible program. It has been tested and
  14.      developed on an IBM-PC & an IBM-PS/2 model 30. 
  15.  
  16.       It requires a min. of 384k of memory and one floppy drive (hard drive
  17.      recommended).
  18.      
  19.       It will run on MDA, CGA, MCGA, EGA, or VGA. Registered users will
  20.      recieve a separate version for full EGA/VGA screen modes & color graphic
  21.      capabilities (due out in March '89).

  23.   2 - Legal
  24.  
  25.       I wrote this program to help me with client's programs and it has been
  26.      in use for over a year. It will not harm any drive or machine and has
  27.      been used on almost every thing available including Novell LANs.
  28.      
  29.       In this the second release of the program it is single user only and
  30.      should be used on one machine at a time.
  31.  
  32.       I cannot guarantee that the program will not do what you want or that
  33.      if used improperly will not damage a drive or machine.

  35.       This program is not Public Domain, it's source code is copyrighted along
  36.      with the program and is not free.

  38.       I am distributing the program through the ShareWare concept so that you
  39.      can try it out for a period and if you like it and want to use it then
  40.      send $25 (per modual) or $50 (full package) and you will receive a serial
  41.      numbered copy with EGA/VGA support, better manual (working on it), a
  42.      serialized Shareware copy to give away or upload. If you distribute the
  43.      Shareware copy with your serial number I will send to you a 10% fee for
  44.      all the copies registered with your number. ($2.50/$5.00).

  55.   3 - Install/Setup
  56.  
  57.       If you got this file from a BBS then unarc the two files into a sub-
  58.      directory.
  59.  
  60.       If you got this disk from the PsL, a friend, or another user group then
  61.      just copy all files from both disks into a sub-directory.

  63.       When you first start up the program you will be asked what kind of video
  64.      card you have..
  65.  
  66.                  This is the Memory variable setup.....
  67.                  You will be asked for your video type.
  68.                  answer 'C' for color 'M' for mono
  69.  
  70.                  Monitor type......:

  72.       Be sure that you have your Caps Lock on or that you put a capital C or M 
  73.      to answer this question.

  76.      screen then you will be presented with the opening screen..

  96.       This screen is only shown when you first start up the program for
  97.      registered users you have the option of disabling or putting their name
  98.      & serial number on the screen. Default is Not Registered & my company
  99.      name & address.

  104.      1- Build Information Disk

  106.          This is the selection that really does most of the work on building
  107.         a demo/information disk or create a menu driven sample application.
  108.         This selection brings up another menu with 4 options.

  110.         1- Add/Edit Menu Items
  111.  
  112.            This selection allows you to add menu options and a description
  113.           for that option. You also have an option to branch to another menu
  114.           or import, edit, or add a text file to be displayed. You will be
  115.           at the following screen...

  135.          <1> Menu Number..: Enter the menu number of the menu you want to
  136.                             add. <note menu number 1 is always the main
  137.                             menu>. All menu numbers will be branches off
  138.                             either the main menu <menu number 1> or one of
  139.                             of the branch menus you have created.

  141.                             You will see a message at the bottom of the 
  142.                             screen..
  143.                             'Enter Menu Number or Leave Blank to Quit'
  144.                             By leaving this item blank or blanking it out
  145.                             you will return to the menu.

  147.                             If after you put a menu number in and you have
  148.                             not used it before you will see the following
  149.                             message..
  150.                             'Menu not Found Do You Want To Create?(Y/N)'
  151.                             Answering 'N' will take you back to the menu or
  152.                             'Y' will add that menu to the database.

  154.          <2> Item Number..: Enter the item number <menu option> starting with
  155.                             1, the menu options need to be in numeric order or
  156.                             the program might not work. Enter a number from
  157.                             1 to 9.

  159.                             You will be presented with the following message
  160.                             'Enter Item Number or Leave Blank to Quit' if you
  161.                             leave the selection blank you will return to the
  162.                             menu number selection.

  164.          <3> Description..: Enter the description of the menu option.

  166.          <4> Branch to....: Enter a number from 2 to 9 or leave blank. This
  167.                             allows you to import text files if left blank or
  168.                             to branch to the next menu <sub-menu> if filled
  169.                             in.

  171.                             If left blank you will be presented with the 
  172.                             message...
  173.                             '[I]mport text file, [E]dit, [Q]uit (I/E/Q)'
  174.                             Import allows you to import a text file,
  175.                             Edit allows you to type in text in to that area,
  176.                             Quit will allow you to leave with the area blank
  177.                             and you can return later to add or edit.

  179.                             If you decide to import a text file you will see..
  180.                             'Enter Text File to Import'
  181.                             You will be asked to enter a text file to use and
  182.                             you can enter <drive><path>FILENAME.EXT upto 35
  183.                             characters long. If the file is in a path longer
  184.                             then move the file to the directory where the 
  185.                             program is located.

  187.                             If you decide to edit a file withing the program
  188.                             you will see the following message...
  189.                             'Press Ctrl-W to Save or Esc to Quit w/o Saving'
  190.                             I am using very basic editor functions and they
  191.                             will be explained later.

  193.         2- Edit Text Files
  194.  
  195.             You will be presented with the same screen as above but you can
  196.            not add menus or menu or menu items, you can only edit or add text
  197.            files.

  199.         3- Put reps name on disk
  200.  
  201.             On the demo disk (information disk) there is an area below the
  202.            menu for your name address or whatever and this option allows you
  203.            to input that info. If you have viewed the MENU.EXE file then you
  204.            will be able to put your info in the same place as I have put mine.

  206.         4- Quit
  207.  
  208.             This will return you to the main menu.

  210.      2- Create Information Disk
  211.  
  212.          This will create a disk to distribute, be sure to have a formatted
  213.         floppy before using this option.

  215.          All the needed files will be copied to drive A:

  240.         run it's own setup like the one used to start the Build program.

  244.          This option will exit you to DOS.

  302.      line at the top of his screen..
  303.       '[Esc] to Quit or Print  [PgDn] [PgUp]' if a printer is connected and
  304.      on or 'Esc to Quit  [PgDn] [PgUp]' if not. The user will be asked to
  305.      print the text file if a printer is there..'Print this item ? (Y/N)?'

  307.       The heading will be printed at the top of the page like the example..

  314.       I am having a regular manual made up and as soon as it is finished and
  315.      a suitable binder found then all registered users will get a copy of it.

  317.       I am working on more enhancements, one being more than 9 menu options
  318.      and menus. Adding color graphics, and importing of .PIC, .PCX files and
  319.      others.
